How it works Reflex is easy, intuitive and doesn’t demand large administrative efforts. It specifically finds the crucial information that is hidden among the data collected in the daily activities of the hospital.
Calculating the risks
Basically, the system calculates the risk of adverse outcomes for each admitted patient, taking into account the most important patient information, like age, primary diagnosis, comorbidity, severity and social economic factors.
What happened actually
Next, this estimation is compared to what actually happened. When there are outliers, the system can detail the information, identifying underlying causes. Reflex can also present the rates of mortality, long stay and readmission risk per department, diagnosis group or patient profile.
Method / standadisation
All outcomes are standardised for a number of patient characteristics.
In most models standardisation is carried out for the following variables:
- Diagnosis group or - procedure group
- Year
- Age
- Sex
- weight of main diagnosis
- Comorbidity
- Socio-economic status
- Month of admission
- Urgence
- Origin of patient
